Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar celebrated Independence Day by sharing a heartfelt tribute to her mother, a trailblazing woman who fought to join the Indian Army. In a video posted on Instagram, her mother recounted her struggle to serve in the army beyond the medical corps.
“I was a paratrooper. I did two Republic Day parades — most people don’t even get one chance. I asked generals, ‘Why won’t you take us in the army?’” she said, expressing pride in today’s female soldiers.
Bhumi added:
“I wear my nationality as a badge of honor. Growing up on my parents’ stories of sacrifice motivates me to push forward. Each generation has built on the last, and now it’s our turn.”
