India outclassed Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2025 Group A encounter, sealing a dominant seven-wicket victory at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Abhishek Sharma Sets the Tone

India’s opener Abhishek Sharma gave his side a flying start, smashing 31 runs off just 13 balls. His aggressive approach dismantled Pakistan’s bowling attack early, particularly targeting star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi with boundaries and sixes from the very first over.

Sharma, currently the top-ranked T20 batter, struck two sixes and four fours before falling to part-time spinner Saim Ayub.

Suryakumar Yadav Leads India to Victory

Skipper Suryakumar Yadav anchored the chase with a composed 47 runs off 37 balls, finishing the game in style with a six in the 16th over. Despite losing Shubman Gill (10) and Tilak Varma (31), India’s batting depth ensured they never looked under pressure while chasing Pakistan’s 128-run target.

Pakistan’s Batting Struggles

After winning the toss, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha opted to bat first. However, the innings faltered right from the start:

Saim Ayub fell on the very first ball to Hardik Pandya.
Mohammad Haris followed soon after, dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah.

While Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman tried to rebuild, India’s spin trio dismantled Pakistan’s middle order, claiming six wickets in 10 overs.

It wasn’t until the late cameo from Shaheen Afridi and leg-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem that Pakistan crossed the 100-run mark, eventually posting 127/9 in 20 overs.
