The Assembly bypolls 2025 are currently under counting across eight important constituencies — Budgam, Nagrota, Anta, Ghatsila, Jubilee Hills, Tarn Taran, Dampa, and Nuapada. Early trends are already shaping the political narrative ahead of final announcements.
The by-elections were conducted on November 11, 2025, coinciding with the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. These elections spanned six states and the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, filling seats that had become vacant.
Jammu & Kashmir Bypolls
Budgam – The PDP candidate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi is leading over JKNC’s Aga Syed Mahmood Al-Mosavi by 1,091 votes. Over 50% voter turnout was recorded in this constituency.
Nagrota – BJP’s Devyani Rana leads with 5,267 votes against JKNPP candidate Harsh Dev Singh. After the third round of counting, Rana secured 11,581 votes, followed by Singh with 4,280 votes, and NC candidate Shamim Begum at 2,464 votes.
Telangana Bypolls
Jubilee Hills – Congress candidate V Naveen Yadav is ahead of BRS rival Maganti Sunitha by 2,995 votes. Yadav has secured 17,874 votes, Sunitha 14,879 votes, while BJP’s Lankala Deepak Reddy is at 3,475 votes. Counting began after postal ballots were tallied at 8 AM.
Rajasthan Bypolls
Anta – Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya is leading by 614 votes after two rounds of counting. Independent candidate Naresh Meena is trailing, with BJP’s Morpal Saman in third position.
Jharkhand Bypolls
Ghatsila – JMM candidate Somesh Chandra Soren leads by 7,541 votes against BJP rival Babulal Soren. After the third round of counting, Somesh Soren secured 16,110 votes, Babulal Soren 8,569 votes, and JLKM candidate Ramdas Murmu 5,278 votes.
Punjab Bypolls
Tarn Taran – AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu is narrowly leading by 187 votes against Shiromani Akali Dal’s Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa. Sandhu has 11,727 votes, while Randhawa is at 11,540 votes in the fifth round of counting.
Mizoram Bypolls
Dampa – Opposition MNF retains the Dampa seat. Candidate R Lalthangliana won the bypoll by 562 votes.
Odisha Bypolls
Nuapada – BJP candidate Jay Dholakia leads after seven rounds of counting with a margin of 25,346 votes. BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria is in second place, followed by Congress candidate Ghasi Ram Majhi.
A total of 26 rounds of counting are scheduled, beginning at 8 AM under tight security. The by-election recorded a voter turnout of 83.45%.
