From Silver Screen to Real Estate: Rimi Sen’s Bold Career Shift

Former Bollywood actress Rimi Sen, known for films like Dhoom and Golmaal, has shared why she quit acting and launched a career in Dubai’s real estate sector. In a recent podcast with Buildcaps, she discussed the realities of Bollywood and why she chose real estate over films.

Rimi said that female actors have shorter careers in Bollywood and that the industry remains male-dominated. She called her real estate business a stable and smart career move, contrasting it with the short-lived fame and uncertainty in acting.

Candid Talk on Career and Gender in Bollywood

During the podcast, Rimi appeared with Priyank Shah, Founder of Buildcaps, and real estate expert Ashish Sharma. Ashish jokingly praised her property sales, saying,

“Rimi ji, leave something for us; you conquered Dubai’s market in no time!”

Rimi responded,

“Real estate is a stable business. Bollywood’s intoxication is over, and I am now focused on real estate.”

Priyank added that her move was smart and timely, highlighting the careful planning behind her transition.

Challenges Women Face in Bollywood

Rimi stressed the gender imbalance in films, noting that male actors like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan enjoy decades-long careers, while women face shorter career spans.

She explained,

“The same heroines who once played lead roles now act in supporting roles or even as on-screen mothers. Women’s careers in films are short, so planning for the future is essential.”

Fame, Addiction, and Career Planning

Rimi compared fame to an addiction, saying,

“Stardom is like gambling. Smart people know when to walk away.”

She emphasized the importance of planning a career with dignity, knowing when to switch paths before opportunities decline, especially for women.

Rimi shared that her exit from Bollywood was carefully planned:

“I enjoyed acting as long as I got meaningful work. When roles became repetitive, I had already planned my exit. I moved on to events, production, and now real estate.”

New Chapter: Real Estate in Dubai

Rimi has fully embraced Dubai’s luxury real estate market, applying the same discipline and strategy she valued in films. She describes her new career as stable, rewarding, and long-term, marking a bold shift from Bollywood stardom to business success.
