Low Crime Rates and Peaceful Festivities
Mizoram witnessed peaceful Christmas celebrations this year, with no significant law and order issues reported. The crime rate was notably low compared to previous years, despite a few minor incidents. Police authorities confirmed that security measures were effective in maintaining order during the festivities.
Minor Incidents and Strong Security Measures
According to Inspector General of Police (Headquarters), Lalbiakthanga Khiangte, there were 28 criminal cases registered in the Aizawl region from December 24 to December 29, including 22 cases of burglary. Two individuals were arrested for illegal sale of firecrackers during the period. Additionally, 47 people were detained for violating traffic rules.
Smooth Transition Into the New Year
Khiangte also reassured the public that comprehensive security measures were in place to ensure smooth and peaceful New Year celebrations. Three cases of unnatural deaths were reported, but no major incidents disrupted the holiday season.
Community Cooperation and Law Adherence
The police praised the residents for adhering to laws and government orders, contributing to the overall peaceful environment during the Christmas holidays.
