Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma emphasized regional connectivity and trade development during the High-Level Task Force on Infrastructure Connectivity and Logistics Cost meeting. The meeting was held online under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) on Monday.
Task Force Meeting Overview
The meeting was convened by Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha and attended virtually by key leaders, including Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Officials from northeastern states discussed ways to improve infrastructure and reduce logistics costs.
Mizoram’s Strategic Role in Connectivity
Chief Minister Lalduhoma highlighted Mizoram’s strategic location under the Act East Policy. He said it has great potential to drive economic growth through better connectivity. Key points included:

The rail line up to Sairang is complete, and its extension to Zorinpui will boost trade in the region.

Zorinpui and Zokhawthar are planned as major border trade hubs.

Multimodal logistics centers at Sairang and Lawngtlai will make the movement of goods and people more efficient.

Using durable concrete standards for roads will reduce maintenance costs and improve logistical efficiency.
Next Steps for the Task Force
The North East Task Force is preparing its final report. It will include actionable recommendations to improve connectivity, reduce logistics costs, and strengthen economic growth.
