Government Issues Ultimatum to MCVU
Mizoram’s Home Minister, K. Sapdanga, has warned the Mizoram Commercial Vehicle Union (MCVU) that their permits, issued by the State Transport Authority (STA), may be cancelled if they fail to end their strike. The government has emphasized that non-compliance with the STA order leaves no reason to validate the MCVU’s permits.
Meeting with Officials to Discuss Alternatives
In a meeting with officials from the transport and police departments, Sapdanga assured that, even if the MCVU does not call off the strike, public transport services will continue. The Mizoram State Transport buses will operate in place of city buses, and district police officers will deploy as many personnel as needed. Battalion forces will also be detailed as required to ensure public transport services are maintained.
Support for Non-Striking Transporters
To ensure safety for transport operators not participating in the strike, the government will provide security measures. Additionally, two-wheelers and four-wheeler taxis will be allowed to operate across Aizawl without the usual odd-even restrictions.
Growing Opposition to the Strike
Several transport associations have decided not to join the strike, further isolating the MCVU. The following associations have expressed their opposition to the strike:

- Mizoram Oil Tanker Driver Association

- All Mizoram Commercial Tripper Association (Owners & Drivers)
- Champhai District Auto Rickshaw Owners Association
The number of transport associations rejecting the strike continues to grow, weakening the MCVU’s position.
